The 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, to be held next June 15-21, is now accepting entries for all of its 17 categories.The entries will be judged by industry professionals who will meet in Cannes to deliberate and vote on the work of more than 36,000 participants, and who will finally award prizes to the best creatives in the world. The new category, Product Design Lions, will honor the applied use of products to project brand values, and how the products themselves have a positive impact on the quality of peoples lives.Commenting on Product Design, Terry Savage, chairman of Lions Festivals, said that brand communication has become such a part of product design that it’s important as a global festival celebrating creative communications that we now recognize this”. Including Product Design Lions as a stand-alone entry category in our awards line up, not only acknowledges this fast growing industry, but helps to set a global benchmark and precedent for the creativity within it he said.To distinguish general performance, a number of special prizes will be awarded during the week of the symposium. Agencies, marketers and the Company of the Year, among many more, will receive their prizes onstage during the four awards ceremonies.The last day when entries will be accepted is March 28, 2014.
