Where are consumers looking for breaking news? According to an August 2014 study by the Newspaper Association of America (NAA) conducted by comScore, 80% of adult American Internet users prefer to view the news through a digital portal, thanks to an increase of 18% year on year, it has reached the value of US $ 164 million in terms of unique visitors. The reason for this rapid growth has been attributed to mobile devices. The percentage of readers of online newspapers exclusively on mobile has increased more than double between August 2013 and August 2014, while the share of unique visitors consulted only news in desktop and notebook computers fell 16%. However, not all mobile users have abandoned their computers, because thanks to a massive growth, readers of information through mobile accounts for the majority of the audience for the digital newspaper, 38% of the total. Despite its decline, the group using computers only outperformed those who still use a combination of mobile and non-mobile, with respective shares of 34% and 28%. NAA and comScore reported that groups with greater use of mobile phone use to read news were women aged 18-24 years and men aged 35 to 44 years.
