JWT appoints Tamara Ingram as new CEO

Manuela Walfenzao| 18 de marzo de 2016

Tamara Ingram was appointed new CEO of J. Walter Thompson, after holding the position of Chief Client Team Officer at WPP. The appointment takes place after the polemic resignation of her predecessor, Gustavo Martínez, who was sued in New York by Erin Johnson, former JWT global CMO for “racist and sexist comments.” Ingram is one of the few women that holds a high position in the agency. Since 2015, the executive has supervised 45 global account teams in WPP, which represented one third of the US$20 billion in revenue and more than 38,000 employees in those accounts. Previously, in 2007 she was appointed President of the P&G team, in which she was responsible for US$1 billion in the business of 40 agencies. Before joining the WPP team, she was VP Executive Managing Director of Grey Global Group. “Tamara is a unique individual that embodies the right type of spirit of the modern entrepreneur. She is intelligent, strong and fair and brings out the best in people. Her energy and passion are contagious. She offers everyone a sense of possibility” said Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, a few years back. Before becoming part of the P&G team, Ingram joined Grey as CEO in the UK when it was acquired by WPP in 2005. She previously served as CEO at McCann Worldgroup in London. Ingram, mother of two, makes chutneys, pickles and jams in her free time.
