Rodrigo Lombello, GolTV: Every aspect of our business will have to conform to the new model

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 11 de octubre de 2011

One of the main features that consumers look for in today’s devices is their video capabilities; and manufactures are delivering. As more and more smart phones, tablets, and iPods continue to enhance these capabilities the demand for content will follow. Our industry (media companies) needs to be in the forefront of these efforts and continue to develop solutions and offer them to the general public. GolTV’s challenges are the same as any other Nielsen rated and ad supported network, basically it’s – how do we continue to expand and offer our content to consumers via multiple screens while monetizing from this new technology and maintaining a profitable business model. Almost every aspect of our business will have to conform to this new model including affiliate agreements, research and measurement tools, programming acquisitions, ad sales, marketing and even traffic.TV Everywhere is still in its infancy stage and without a doubt it will continue to evolve. Regardless of the changes that will come, its foundations are already being set specially by the cable and satellite providers. Exactly what impact TV Everywhere will have on the future of our industry is yet to be determined. However there are certain things you can be sure of -consumer hunger for video content will continue to grow, technology will continue to evolve and challenge our industry and in one way or another the market will always provide monetization of content in various ways. Whether through cable, satellite, telephone or Internet subscriptions or under new, to be developed models.
