Carlos Pagán, Sales and Station manager of WAPA
This past December 5th, WAPA TV appointed Carlos Pagán as Sales and Station manager for sports channel WAPA 2. In an interview with PRODU, the executive commented on upcoming projects for the channel the only one dedicated exclusively to sports in Puerto Rico,- which include coverage of traditional sports as well as new ones picking up steam in the country.Im back at WAPA after 20 years to develop what I love, which is sports. Im back with basketball, baseball, men and womens volleyball, and other sports that are gaining popularity such as Ironmans and cycling. There are lots of people practicing sports in Puerto Rico, said Pagán.He also pointed out that the country needed a niche where people could watch these sports, and during hard times, we want to bring healthy entertainment, where people can stay home and enjoy this programming through WAPA.According to Pagán, thanks to a deal with Universal Sports, top programming projects will include several track and field events. Additionally, in cycling they will have the Vuelta a España and possibly the Tour de France.The channel will also offer the best of snow skiing, the Volleyball World Championship thanks to a deal with the International Volleyball Federation,- the basketball regular season from February to June, and the baseball season from March to October.
