SUR LLC unveils the new channel lineup for Canal SUR, which includes the widely popular telenovela El Encantador. The latest addition to the Fall listings will join a new schedule of highly rated entertainment programming that will be broadcast exclusively on Canal SUR for U.S. cable subscribers. El Encantador is a Colombian comedic drama that originally aired on Caracol Televisión and subsequently became a surprise overnight sensation in Ecuador. SUR LLC will now transmit the original episodes for U.S. Hispanic audiences, where it hopes to attain more than 25% of the market share like it during its first run in Guayaquil. El Encantador is the story of a charmer from humble beginnings who becomes the biggest swindler in the history of the country. Rolando Castaño, played by Diego Cadavid, is suave, smooth operator and a total ladies man. With his sweet-talking personality he quickly gains the trust of all who cross his path. However, his insatiable quest for fast and easy moneyregardless of the consequenceswill lead him to defraud entire neighborhoods with his Ponzi schemes and promises to double investments. Always wanting more and desiring to play with the big boys in elite social circles, he befriends a renowned business man and president of one of the largest law firms, Gregorio Solarte. Thats where Castaño decides to perform one of his dirtiest deeds to launder millions of dollars. Along for the ride is the daughter of the lawyera sophisticated heiress who knows exactly what she wants and how to get it, though she also becomes ensnared in his web of lies and deceit.
