Fox Deportes achieves record breaking 2012 in Viewers

Fox Deportes rings in the New Year by celebrating a record breaking and dominant 2012. The cable network finished 2012 as the No. 1 U.S. Spanish Sports Cable Network across all major dayparts in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 (Total Day, Prime Time and Weekend Day) versus all Spanish Sports Cable networks – according to Nielsen Media Research. Several major additions in events and original programming propelled the network’s 2012 dominance.Fox Deportes solidified its leadership position in combat sports by presenting a full 52 week slate of UFC and acquiring Golden Boy Boxing live and classic events with all ancillary programming. Additionally, the Network acquired and aired the most Live College Football games in the history of Spanish TV, 17 weeks of the biggest teams in the Big 12 and Pac-12.In original programming, Central Fox and La Última Palabra drove Fox Deportes’ 2012 dominance. Launched in February, both programs finished the year with phenomenal momentum and the highest news and soccer talk viewership in network history. Central Fox was the No. 1 sports news program for the last 2 quarters of 2012 (July-December) versus all Spanish Sports Cable networks. Central Fox grew the network’s news viewership by +56% in Q4 (October-December) in total viewers and +83% in adults 18-49 versus 2011. La Última Palabra grew the Network’s soccer talk viewership by +32% in Q4 in Total Viewers and +75% in Adults 18-49 versus 2011.“Last year marked a breakthrough year for Fox Deportes as we delivered the most expansive and diverse portfolio of major sports events in Spanish TV history,” said Vincent Cordero, EVP and general manager, Fox Deportes. “Our goal was to provide U.S. Latinos the best and most compelling sports events, with unparalleled news and commentary, which together made us their No. 1 sports destination.”
