31st annual edition of Premios TVyNovelas reaches more than 7.1 million viewers on Univision

The 31st annual edition of Premios TVyNovelas reaches more than 7.1 million viewers and makes Univision the No. 2 broadcast network with Adults 18-34 ahead of ABC, CBS, and NBC.Airing last Sunday night from Acapulco, Mexico and emceed by Despierta América co-host Alan Tacher, celebrated Mexican singer/actress Yuri, and Hoy co-host Galilea Montijo, the 2013 edition of Premios TVyNovelas featured a veritable Who’s Who of superstar presenters who gave out 28 different awards to the best programs, actors, comedians, hosts, writers, and directors, in addition to presenting four special recognitions. For the first time in its history, the Premios TVyNovelas awards ceremony was simulcast by the Univision Network in the U.S. and Televisa in Mexico and included Univision programming and talent among the honorees. Attracting an average audience of 3.6 million Total Viewers, 1.8 million Adults 18-49 and 744,000 Adults 18-34, the awards show was up by double-digit margins compared to last year’s telecast with Total Viewers 2+ (+24%), Adults 18-49 (+35%) and Adults 18-34 (+10%). The awards show delivered more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos and Red Widow, CBS’ 60 Minutes, The Good Wife and The Mentalist and NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice. On Univision local stations, Premios TVyNovelas made Univision the No. 1 broadcast station in the 9pm-11:30pm time period among Total Viewers 2+ in Los Angeles, Miami and Houston; and Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Houston. The awards show also helped Univision local stations garner the No. 1 spot in primetime among Total Viewers 2+ in Miami; Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Houston; and Adults 18-34 in New York, Miami and San Francisco.
