Azteca premiered its new telenovela Prohibido Amar this past Monday, October 7th at 8:30pm, and introduced its cast, led by Rossana Nájera and Marco de Paula. Producer Rafael Urióstegui told PRODU it doesnt try to intellectualize the novela genre, but it does seek to bring smarter, more coherent dialog.We dont want to intellectualize the novela, but we do believe weve managed to offer better dialog, smarter and more coherent. Part of the promotional campaign revolves around lines from the telenovela, and in that sense it is well structured, said Uriostegui.He said Prohibido Amar is the Mexican version of the Colombian story La Sombra Del Deseo of Caracol TV. It was written by Dago García and Luis Felipe Salamanca, Who, given the times, dared to touch on modern themes, and its still current because it deals with todays issues, added Urióstegui.The producer is confident it will be received well by audiences, who are currently distanced from TV which is reflected in the poor ratings of not just Azteca, but many other channels in Mexico-, Thats why we need to offer new things; thats how we make a difference, he said.Prohibido Amar has 120 episodes shot on location in Acapulco and Mexico City. It stars Rossana Nájera, Marco de Paula, Fernando Ciangherotti, Ana Ciocchetti, Iliana Fox, and Ari Telch, among others. Carmen Madrid, María Renne Prudencio and Ximena Escalante are in charge of the adaptation. The original musical theme is by Jorge Avendaño, interpreted by ex-academic Myriam.
