Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News have announced the 12 winners of the Multicultural TV Leadership Awards, which will be presented at a luncheon ceremony during the Multicultural TV Summit on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. The Awards recognize business executives who have contributed to the sustainable growth of multicultural TV—defined as video intended for an audience segment of a specific ethnicity, nationality, region, gender, religious affiliation or LGBT lifestyle. The selection process was based on the collective scores submitted by ten judges that represent a wide spectrum of the multicultural communities: ethnic, national, region, religious affiliation, gender and LGBT.“Some of the judges are noteworthy celebrities, others are experts in their fields. The judges allowed for an impartial, non-political and knowledgeable assessment of each candidate. By using an impartial panel of judges, our intent is to award the most legitimate honor on our recipients. We often hear that such awards are politically motivated. In the case of the Multicultural TV Leadership Awards the recipients are being acknowledged because they deserve it,” said to PRODU, Joe Schramm, managing partner of Schramm Marketing Group, Inc.Following are the 12 winners by category:Programmer Management Executive: Hernán López, president and CEO, FOX International Channels, and Michael Schwimmer, CEO, NUVOtv, who shared the identical scoreAgency Management Executive: Esther Franklin, EVP, Head of SMG Americas Strategy, Starcom MediaVest GroupPay TV Management Executive: David Rone, president, Sports, News and Local Programming, Time Warner CableConsumer Marketing Executive (Programmer): Vicky Free, EVP & Chief Marketing Officer, BET NetworksConsumer Marketing Executive (Provider): Alessandra Otero-Reiss, VP, Relationship Marketing, Time Warner CableAdvertising Sales Executive: Mike Rosen, EVP of Advertising Sales, Telemundo MediaMedia Planning Executive: Silvia García, VP of Media Planning and Multiplatform Strategy, Univision Communications Inc.Account Management Executive: Cesar Sroka, Group Account Director, OMD Multicultural, OMDProgramming Distribution Executive: Timothy Boell, SVP Content Distribution & Marketing, Asia TV USA Ltd.Programming Acquisition Executive: Freddy Rolón, VP, Deportes Programming & Business Units, ESPNAudience Development/Tune-in Promotions Executive: Kim Bondy, senior executive producer, America Tonight, Al Jazeera America.
