The impression of Leonardo Zimbrón, Head of Programming of Endemol Shine Boomdog, is that MIP Cancun has grown, that there is more staff than last year, which reflects that “the Latin American market has become more united and there is more collaboration, so thinking about Spanish spoken content makes us proud.”
The production house has an intense agenda of projects that come from the team that the firm has been building with great recruits. The last one is Gastón Pavlovich, who comes from producing The Irishman, the latest movie of Martin Scorsese, released on Netflix recently. The firm is already immersed with his team in the story of Antonieta Rivas Mercado, an intellectual woman from the early twentieth century, the inspiration of the Angel of Independence.
“We’re talking about a real character, rich in culture, who lived important political moments in Mexico as the beginning of the Mexican revolution. This is a thrilling story, of passion, it is a great epic story, which shooting must be prepared properly.”
Súbete a mi Moto will also concentrate part of the work of 2020 regarding postproduction, and which will be release by Amazon in the second half of next year. The shooting of Menudo’s story recently ended in Puerto Rico and involved a thorough production design. “This is also a period series, from the 70s and 80s, and part of the 90s, so it has a very detailed production design. The costume, makeup and hairstyle teams made a very important research. I’m dying to show a trailer soon.”
For Zimbrón, the industry is experiencing the beginning of very good times in which the key to staying ahead is choosing the best team. “We look for projects, but what we most seek is people. Ed Catmull, one of the founders of Pixar, says that the secret of a content company is not seeking for the projects, but for the right people. That is why we have focused on reaching agreements with talents and then the projects will come.”
