Alvaro Godoy Endemol Shine Boomdog
Endemol Shine Boomdog, a division of Endemol Shine North America, has signed a bounty of top comedic talent and is developing a slate of original new scripted and unscripted comedy series, it was announced by Álvaro Godoy, Head of Development, Endemol Shine Boomdog.
Endemol Shine Boomdog, which produces such popular comedy series as Chumel Con Chumel Torres for HBO Latin America, Last One Laughing (LOL) for Amazon Prime, Nailed It (Mexico) for Netflix, Me Caigo de Risa and Quién es la Máscara for Televisa and the breakout new sitcom Se Rentan Cuartos for Comedy Central, is looking to develop the next batch of scripted and unscripted comedy programming.
The studio has signed award-winning talent Fran Hevia (Se Rentan Cuartos), Alex Fernández (LOL), Michelle Rodríguez (LOL, Me Caigo de Risa), Ricardo O’Farrill (LOL) and El Diablito (Se Busca Comediante, LOL) to develop a handful of new series that Boomdog’s team will be taking to buyers this winter.
“Endemol Shine Boomdog has a long history developing some of the most popular comedic series in the region. And we are thrilled to now be working with some of the best writers and on-camera talent that exists within our industry to create a slate of new comedy programming for the next decade,” says Godoy, who formerly served as a comedy writer himself on Chumel Con Chumel Torres and La Sopa.
New series in development include Mananas Magicas, a sketch comedy show headlined by Fran Hevia, Alex Fernandez and Michelle Rodriguez. Janguea y Rapea, a music and comedy show with Ricardo O’Farrill and Me Lleva el Diablo, a comedy transformation reality series hosted by El Diablito.
Earlier this year, Endemol Shine Boomdog announced it was teaming with improv and sketch comedy theatre troupe Upright Citizens Brigade to develop the next wave of Spanish comedy talent. As part of that pact, Boomdog and UCB jointly launched the first-ever Spanish language comedy boot camp to cultivate both writers and performers to participate in an untitled sketch comedy show.
