According to David Gandler, CEO of fuboTV, the entire world will watch content via streaming in the future. “Growth will continue to be between 30 and 40% annually in upcoming years,” expressed Gandler during his participation in the working day of OTT Leaders in the virtual event OTT Blitz Week presented by Fierce Video and The StreamTV Show.
Gandler, who started with the OTT DramaFever, went on to fuboTV due to the huge opportunity that the sports streaming market presented, “on one hand the price, and on the other hand, the video experience in itself,” he explained.
He mentioned that towards the future, MVPD virtual is where SVOD, AVOD, and linear TV will be grouped in a single place.
The trends he observes include: fewer content media groups, content costs management, consumers are jumping from cable to virtual and companies such as fuboTV have the capability to insert ads dynamically.
“SVOD services benefitted a great deal from the fact that there were no live sports, but now will see a drop in the third quarter with the start of sports such as MBL, NBA, and NFL. We feel very confident,” he detailed.
He highlighted that the big surprise related to sports during the pandemic was that e-sports did not grow.
He also said that the baseball format needs a change. “The fact that the games and the season so long do not lead to a TV audience,” he expressed.
He mentioned that fuboTV´s strengths include the huge volume of sports events and that since 2018, they are the only ones to deliver games in virtual 4K.
