Óscar Cortés Cortés, owner and director of And Action Studio, comments that the Art Director with his proposals and results adds credibility and veracity to the stories insofar as these demand them. “For example, a production based on true facts can demand more rigor than a production that is 100% fiction that may demand more of a proposal,” he said.
He feels the set designer´s role has changed. “Set designers used to be more dedicated to certain formats in order to exercise their specialty or to diversify their knowledge a bit in order to adapt to other formats. In movies and series, a large percentage of real locations are used. The stage designer´s work is only required when some adaptation of real locations are necessary,” he explained.
When consulted on his experience with the new health protocols, he mentioned they were one of the first companies to set out on producing a short film. It is El Miedo, where he exhibits an additional aspect, production. It is an original idea and script by Cortés, directed by Jaime Segura, cinematography by Juan Pablo Puentes, starring Julián Gil and Verónica Schneider. Rafael Rodríguez and Jorge González were in charge of the production. “We conducted rigorous research. We established protocols and practices aligned with the demands, achieving excellent results in terms of risks and quality”.
He mentioned that, together with Carlos Guevara and Rafael Rodríguez, for Univision, he had the opportunity to participate, with a team of experienced professionals that ensured the good deployment of the vast protocol designed for Premios Juventud 2020, carrying out a project he feels is historical since it is the first during the pandemic.
