CNN en Español premiered its new original production made in Argentina, Conectad2, on Saturday 3rd at 10pm. This is a current affairs program hosted by journalists Ernesto Tenembaum and María O’Donnell. During the show, both discuss and analyze the main timely issues with interviews and special guests, both in studio and remotely.
“A little over three years ago we began to produce content from our Buenos Aires office, such as the weekly program Diálogo con Longobardi; the daily newscast Perspectivas desde Buenos Aires; CNN redacción, and Mercado Sur, among others. We have done very well and that is why we continue to bet on our own production,” Esteban Campanela, Senior Content Producer at CNN en Español and manager of the CNN office in Buenos Aires, explained to PRODU.
They decided to go with both journalists because they match CNN’s profile: serious; impartial, and that their analysis about the political, economic or social situation is based on facts. “We are trying to return to the roots of journalism and always look for two different points of view when it comes to a certain issue,” added Campanela.
The CNN producer acknowledges that such a program is not common on a Saturday night, but he believes that, by airing in several countries simultaneously, it will have an adult audience that is looking for this type of programming.
Like all the channel’s programs, Conectad2 will have a digital support and that is why they will upload content to the CNN en Español site and also to the CNN Argentina accounts.
