For Tomás Gennari, CEO of BB and founder of FlickShow, Dondeloveo, and Livepanel, alliances, acquisitions, and mergers will continue. “These will be necessary for streaming survival,” he pointed out during the OTT & VOD 2021 Guide event organized by PRODU.

Regarding the question of whether traditional pay-TV will be able to survive, Gennari said: “of course, but they will have to cut the cable and reach homes via the Internet and with ubiquitous applications. They must be super aggregators of D2C platforms and seek to obtain rights for exclusive content. They will even be able to get on board with advertising sales by implementing advanced advertising systems and addressable ads.”
He also assures that these technological developments will not be for all pay-TV providers, but will require large investments and financial support.
