The sixth edition of Gala de la Industria de los Premios PRODU (PRODU Awards Industry Gala) brought together more than 300 representatives of the most prominent audiovisual companies internationally, to recognize important executives who build and make this industry grow. It took place at the Cancun Theatre within the framework of MIP Cancun.
The ceremony began with a red carpet where awardees and special guests paraded, before giving way to the gala hosted by CNN en Español presenters Alejandra Oraa and María Alejandra Requena. Both introduced the honorees and the hosts of the night, Richard Izarra, president and founder and Roko Izarra, director of PRODU. Latin Media CEO, José Escalante, also participated in the ceremony´s opening .
“PRODU has witnessed the growth and development of Latino production, and that has been our mission: to give this great industry a voice. We have a great team strategically distributed in different cities of our beloved Latin America. This membership helps us to have a global vision of the industry and the audiences to understand them better” stated Richard Izarra, president and founder of PRODU.
For Roko Izarra, the increase of the number of registrations, juries, categories and stars is proof of the growth of the PRODU Awards: “Thank you for entrusting your content to us. To give this industry the scale it deserves, we created an innovative concept made up of a livestreaming that brought together all the Latino talents and content, to create an intimate, inclusive and innovative concept.”
This important event began with the A Life Dedicated to the Transformation of the Industry Award for Taxto Benet and Jaume Roures, who thanked for the recognition that rewarded more than 40 years of work by a team focused on generating high-quality content.
The Pillars of The Industry Awards followed, this year focused on innovation: Ana de la Reguera as Pillar of Acting and Production, who expressed her gratitude via video; Can Okan, Inter Medya from Turkey; Cecilia Mendonça, Disney Latin America; the writer Leonardo Padrón, Mónica Lozano, CEO of Alebrije Producciones, Ronald Day from Telemundo and Zaida Jiménez from Teletica, who took the stage and each one expressed a few words about why they deserved this recognition.
Grupo Modelo was honored as Advertiser of the Year for the campaigns “Fishing Championship” for its product, Corona.
JC Acosta became the Executive of the Year, who offered an emotional gratitude message, not only to the company he just left, but also to his family and friends who led him to obtain this recognition.
The WAWA moment arrived, through a video recognizing their efforts to promote women working in the industry, and who were applauded by the audience.
Also were bestowed the grand prizes of the PRODU Awards Public Gala last Wednesday the 9th and Thursday the 10th: ¿Quién es la Máscara? 3 from Endemol Shine Boomdog and TelevisaUnivision, and Santa Evita from Star+, Hulu/Star Original Productions, Non Stop.
At the end of the ceremony, all the winners went up on stage for the official photo and a group hug, to later enjoy a conviviality between winners and friends.
