“2022 was a great year for us in the sale of formats. There are 64 shows of the Banijay family touring Latin America. We are very proud because it is a crowning number, not only with formats that return such as Yo soy, Minuto para Ganar, The big music quiz, or MasterChef but with new shows, such as Canta Conmigo, which has been one of the novelties that began to grow modestly throughout Latin America. An extremely ambitious show, with a very large and challenging staging,” said Michelle Wasserman, SVP of Latin America, Brazil, and US Hispanic, Banijay Rights.
In Argentina, this program has a 360-degree studio of almost ten meters high. “To get an idea of the size, there are 130 microphones involved and at times more than 110 are active simultaneously, and +300 lights are used. A hundred people, including technicians and the production team, are involved in one of the shows on Argentine TV, perhaps the largest in recent years. A huge production challenge. We are happy to have the most iconic host of Argentine television, Marcello Tinelli, with two seasons now produced and more to come. Argentina is the third country in the region where the show was developed, after six seasons in Brazil, one season in Colombia, and soon the third in Argentina,” she added.
Wasserman explained that in the case of MasterChef, Bolivia joined the +66 countries in the world that do the show. “This coming 2023 there will be news. Other countries will be joining the list. We hope to be able to share the news for this new year soon.”
“Scripted has traveled super well, especially within streaming platforms and pay lines. Two of our most powerful stories this year, Maria Antoniette and Rogue Heroes, premiered on DIRECTV. We are very proud of this great bet. For its part, Todo por Lucy (Adaptation of I Love Lucy), recently presented at Mipcom and MIP Cancun, begins to travel after being on Amazon and the recent premiere of its second season,” Wasserman commented.
