Fernando Barbosa, leader of Production, Acquisition and Distribution, Disney Latin America, announced, during the company’s screening on Wednesday the 24th held at The Walt Disney Company Studios in Burbank, California, that after about three years they will be again distributing and marketing their content for different platforms and television channels throughout the region.
“We have returned to this business model that due to the content exclusivity on the platforms, some of us thought that distribution to third parties by Disney could disappear. However, we know that it is a good business and we have a lot of high-quality local content that can be successful outside of our Disney+, Star+ and pay TV channels that we still have in the region,” he commented.
During the screening, he presented more than 70 local productions ready for distribution and of all kinds of genres, from fiction, drama, comedy, to unscripted entertainment programs. “All this content is already available to be marketed in Latin America first, where it will surely be a success, and why not, to many other regions of the world.”
Barbosa also recalled that for four years they had not done this screening from Los Angeles, due to the pandemic and to the strategy to produce only for its own screens, and expressed that it is very important to him to be again among the sellers of content for the entire industry.
A few months ago, PRODU announced Disney’s return to syndication, after Bob Iger, CEO of the company, spoke about it.
