The kids and youth series Lucy Es El 7, co-produced by SOMOS Productions and Piñolywood Studios, is now in pre-production in Puerto Rico, focusing on preparing the cast, testing and rehearsing the series’ songs.
It has a multinational cast – Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and Puerto Rico, among other countries – and will probably begin production in October, ending in the first quarter of 2024.
Lucy Es El 7 continues the trend of SOMOS Productions’ musical productions such as Gina Yei, Súbete a Mi Moto (the story of Grupo Menudo), and Hasta que te Conocí (the story of Juan Gabriel), where this association has produced popular entertainment among Spanish-language audiences.
The series is about Lucy, a particular girl with great imagination who sees the people around her as characters from an oriental anime. She likes Anthony, a boy who strives to become a famous singer and to have many fans following him on his networks. Lucy wants to become a big music star together with Anthony, her best friend.
The musical series will have two seasons of 10 episodes each. Lucy Es El 7 is a fiction, teen comedy/drama series combining a fresh and colorful visual style with a graphic approach in the style of manga and anime, interacting with live action as an element of the narrative.
It is written by Vladimir Pérez (also the showrunner) and directed by Raúl García and Javier Solar. Daniel Espinoza, Musical Director; Willie Berrios Photography Director; and Julie Michelle Santiago is responsible for the costume design, all under the executive production of Luis Villanueva, Carlos Nido, Ivanna Villanueva, and Francisco Villanueva.
