In the Dominican Republic, television is the most consumed medium. The data, which also describes the Latin American situation, was confirmed by a study presented by Color Visión, Channel 9, which found that TV has 91% penetration among Dominicans.
Consumption by age dismantles myths. 46% of young people between 12 and 17 years old consume it weekly, and 63% between 18 to 29 years old.
“It is the king of consumption, and it increases the further you are from urban centers because it is the only thing free. There was a myth that young people did not watch television, but we found that 46% of young people do,” said Ángel Laureano, director of Color Visión at Content Americas.
“Consumption has grown, and we have more screens, such as the Color Visión app, YouTube, and on our streaming pages. TV is above any other medium and is the most credible,” he noted. According to the study, it is the medium with the highest advertising recall.
Another relevant fact from the study, based on a survey of 6 thousand people, is that 62% of the programming broadcast by Dominican channels is local. 72% of the population watches television every week. More than 40% watch television almost daily. On Sundays, consumption among women reaches 5.6 hours and 4 hours among men.
Regarding the preference for the content genre, women preferentially consume novels, variety shows, movies, and series, and Dominican men prefer information, humor, and sports programs.
