Humor and heartbreak mix in Un Buen Divorcio, a new series by Lemon Studios, launched on March 1st on ViX. The format was written and produced by Billy Rovzar and directed by Alfonso Pineda. The first chapter has been available on Las Estrellas since February 29.
The director highlighted Rovzar’s work in his debut as a librettist and showrunner. “It was so well written that one had to direct it extremely well, and so well directed that the actors had to shine even more,” he stated.
During the launch event, held at Cinépolis de la Plaza Carso in Mexico City, Billy was happy about the project in which he had the opportunity to work for the first time with his wife, actress Claudia Álvarez. “We had to find the perfect and ideal project, and we did it.”
Each of the 10 episodes is a new case of a couple going through a divorce, but threading through a central story with the main characters (David, Monica, and their family).
Un Buen Divorcio also addresses controversial topics such as child exploitation, sexuality, and alcoholism.
“The series is written with an honest, funny, and moving pen; divorce is not an easy topic, but they treat it with a lot of love. I am deeply grateful to ViX for this opportunity; we were dying to have a fiction series on the platform, but now we do,” said Fernando Rovzar, creative director of Lemon Studios.
Billy Rovzar, who was also director of the second unit, mentioned that the possibility of a second season depends on the performance of the first, as well as the approval of ViX. Pineda added that they are already working on a second delivery, still pending confirmation.
