Throughout the three and a half years that Emilio Aliaga has been leading the Digital Division of Univision Communications, Inc., the company has successfully deployed its brands through original digital series. “When we arrived, we only placed content linked to TV and we began to deploy that. At first we only focused on web and mobile, but now we are doing it across all platforms,” says Aliaga, Digital Contents VP.
He commented that one of the things that has changed the digital landscape the most are social networks, “that have had a huge boost in the last three to four years. They went from something social to turning into platforms, reference points, they have become one of users’ main destinies. How do you manage to make those synergies? By generating 30-second content exclusively for Instagram and Facebook, that give the audience a ‘taste’ without forgetting the ‘mother’, that is TV.”
He mentioned that Nuestra Belleza Latina is one of the most popular programs regarding digital material, which has a large community. “La Banda is a great example of what we managed to do for the final community. La Banda 2015 generated more than 55 million videos on YouTube and more than 120 million page views.”
He stated that Univisión Conecta app, which already celebrated its first year and has more than 750 mil downloads, is an example of the progress achieved, with the interaction of second screen.
