Argos, Caravana and Simaya inaugurated on Tuesday November 15 the Gabriel García Márquez Studios. Francisco Bonilla, general director, explained that in July there was a partial inauguration together with the municipality, but the one held last Tuesday was focused on the TV industry.
“By now everything is ready, it is the official inauguration event,” he stated, after commenting that the name of the center was Estudios Gabriel García Márquez, and that each one of the six studios will have the name of a writer, including, among others: Carlos Monsiváis, Elena Poniatowska and Juan Rulfo.
In the event, Gabriel García Márquez´s widow, Mercedes Barcha, unveiled a portrait of the famous writer, who had a bit of history with Argos, because he collaborated with his opinions on the first productions, at the beginning of the project.
Caravana is the company in charge of production services for content creators, including the management of the studios: “We offer these services in a joint manner. If, as a producer, you just have the idea, we take care of everything, all the way up to the delivery of the finished product. We work according to the client´s needs. We want to be the place where the client has a turnkey solution.”
Simaya (Soluciones Inmobiliarias Maya), are partners of Argos and main investors of the new studios. Miguel Ángel Mancera, head of the Government of Mexico City, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, President of the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, and Jorge Sánchez, director of the Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía, attended the ceremony.
