Cinelatino commemorates Mexican Revolution Day with the premiere of the award-winning biopic Villa, Itinerario de una Pasión (Amorous Pancho Villa) about one of the Mexican Revolution’s most well-known generals, José Doroteo Arango Arámbula, better known as ‘Pancho Villa.’
The film debuted on Sunday, November 19, at 9:30pm ET & 11pm ET / 6:30pm PT & 8pm PT—the eve of Mexico’s official Revolution Day.
Based on the Mexican best-selling novel, Itinerario de una Pasión – Los Amores de mi General, Amorous Pancho Villa tells the fascinating story of Mexican revolutionary hero Pancho Villa as told through the eyes of four grieving wives, all with whom—unbeknown to them—Villa was having intimate relationships with at the time of his death. Set at Villa’s funeral wake in the 1920s, tensions rise as the women begin to recount their beloved’s life. Pancho Villa’s strengths and weaknesses are exposed and his ideals, beliefs, and passion for women, family and education are revealed through captivating flashbacks. The women soon realize they knew very little about the man they all married, and the kind of life he led.
“Pancho Villa is known as one of the greatest revolutionaries in Mexican history and we’re proud to bring viewers an intimate and in-depth depiction of his life with the premiere of this uniquely told story,” said Carolina Bilbao, executive creative director of Cinelatino.
The film features an all-star Mexican cast including Alejandro Navarette, Gabriela Canudas, Diana Bracho, Joaquin Cosio, Venonica Jaspeado, Paola Núñez, Dominica Paleta, Rocio Verdejo, and Tere Ruiz.
