Álex Marín, International Distribution EVP for Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada at Sony Pictures Television Networks Latin America, said during the press screening at LA Screenings, that El Rey del Valle, Sony’s first venture into short series, will not be the last.
It has two seasons, 13 episodes each, and is made in co-production with Clarovideo.
Starring Osvaldo Benavides, it is about a Mexican narcoseries-lover, Luis Miguel del Valle, who, after failing as a businessman, decides, together with his best friend, to make a drug shipment to the US. The comedy unfolds after all the adventures they go through together.
The productions they showed included Rosario Tijeras 2, María Magdalena (60×60′), a projection that showed the scale of the production made with Dopamine that was shot between Colombia and Marruecos, and La Guzmán, that is not a biopic but is based on the life of Alejandra Guzmán.
Additionally, they showed an episode of Deadly Class, based on the homonymous comic strip, that tells the story of the dark world of an killers’ school and teenage torments; The Launch, a musical series that shows the backstage of emerging artists’ auditions, very successful in Canada, Schooled and Million Pound Menu.
