Unicorns Inc.: Unicorn Hunters isn’t just entertaining, it also generates economic and social impact

Unicorn Hunters (18×30′) is a non-scripted entertainment show that bridges the gap between entrepreneurs and global investors.  It offers a unique opportunity to invest in promising high-growth businesses (or unicorns) with the potential to become publicly traded companies.

The brainchild of Unicorns Inc. CEO and founder, Silvina Moschini, Unicorn Hunters features Moschini as both executive producer and panelist. Joining her are business luminaries like Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Season one’s executive producer was Craig Plestis, known for shows like The Masked Singer.

“Our inaugural season launched with 18 episodes, showcasing 18 companies from across the globe. With Unicorn Hunters, we’re aiming to create a wholly new genre. We believe entertainment media has the power to deliver not just enjoyment, but also significant social and economic impact,” Moschini explained to PRODU. She coined the term “enrichtainment” to describe the show’s format.

“It is a new genre concept that isn’t just entertainment – it could make you rich,” she said.

Silvina Moschini has a deep understanding of unicorn companies. After all, she was the first Latina entrepreneur to build a billion-dollar company (a “unicorn”). “There are two key aspects to what defines a unicorn company. First, a billion-dollar valuation is essential. Second, the company possesses disruptive technology, meaning it offers a novel approach that significantly alters how things are done in its industry.”

With pre-production for season two underway, the team is busy selecting participating companies and expanding the show’s distribution channels. Moschini remembers receiving over 1,500 applications for season one, a daunting task in choosing just 18 participants.

Veteran content distribution executive Valeria Nardecchia joins Unicorn Inc. as VP of Corporate Development and Distribution, aiming to drive distribution growth.

“Since this is a new format, we plan to expand the brand and eventually, as the brand grows, enter into licensing or production agreements in different territories, including Latin America and the Spanish market. This year’s launch will again be in English,” Nardecchia explained.

The inaugural season of the show was filmed at Television City in Los Angeles.

PRE-IPO INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY

Moschini explains that Unicorn Hunters stands out from formats like Shark Tank or Dragons’ Den because the featured companies are specifically chosen for their investment potential. “We focus on businesses that are ready to receive investment and have significant growth potential,” she says. “We identified a major gap in the investment world. By combining a media company with a financial company, we can address this challenge. We offer everyday people the opportunity to invest in companies before they go public. By the time these companies go public, they’re already too expensive for most people to invest in.”

Another interesting component of the show is the Unicorn Hunters’ table. In addition to Steve Moschini and Steve Wozniak, it includes Rosie Rios, former Treasurer of the United States; Alex Konanykhin, CEO of Unicoin; Lance Bass, formerly of the boy band NSYNC; Moe Vela, former White House consultant; and actor Chris Diamantopoulos. “Each of us at the money table brings a unique perspective, evaluating companies through a lens that reflects our own experiences,” she highlighted.

Their distribution strategy went beyond traditional TV and streaming screens, reaching audiences on new platforms, she explained.

“From the outset, we avoided limiting ourselves to traditional media channels like TV or streaming. Instead, we focused on platforms that would maximize our reach.  We have distribution through on-air entertainment with companies like TAP Portugal, and streaming services like Claro Video, Cinnamon, Tubi, and The News Forum (Canada’s #1 for syndicated audiovisual content). We also partner with media outlets’ digital platforms, including Expansión (Mexico), Grupo Clarín (Argentina), and El Colombiano (Colombia).  There are many more, but this gives you an idea,” she mentioned. In addition, they also broadcast the show through their site and others such as YouTube and Vimeo.

She added that they’re actively forging new partnerships, including a collaboration agreement with Qatar. This partnership focuses on engaging with entrepreneurs in Qatar’s thriving innovation hub. By working together, they aim to bring the show’s format to the region, connecting with local entrepreneurs, ideas, and investors.

The first season of Unicorn Hunters captivated a global audience of over 18 million viewers, generating investment requests that surpassed $300 million. This far exceeded the show’s initial promise of empowering visionary entrepreneurs with access to capital. With strategic alliances in 15 countries and availability in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Unicorn Hunters has the potential to connect with over 300 million viewers worldwide.

Beyond investing directly in the show’s featured companies, the public can also invest in Unicoin, the official cryptocurrency of Unicorn Hunters. This U.S.-based cryptocurrency is regulated, transparent, and features public reporting.

Brazilian multimedia group Jovem Pan created a show anchored by Unicorn Hunters called Hunter Cast. “It is an extension of the show, where local presenters and innovators talk about what happened in the show, but also about the industry and give it continuity and relevance more at a local level, which is something we are going to begin to expand in the second season, creating video blogs linked to money, also with women and money, which is a super important topic for us: financial education,” she noted.

Moschini highlighted that the show’s first season featured companies tackling climate change solutions, like Mechanical Freeze. “We prioritize companies that deliver a positive social and economic impact,” she explained.
