Renowned series and telenovela creator José Ignacio Valenzuela and Del Barrio Producciones, have signed an alliance to bring the first telenovela about the boom in Peruvian cuisine to life.
The announcement was made by Valenzuela and Michelle Alexander, CEO and Content Director of Del Barrio Productions, who shared details about this unique collaboration. The telenovela, tentatively titled Leche de Tigre, will air next year.
The story will follow Toño and Rafaela in the thrilling world of Peruvian cuisine. Toño is a tireless worker, and Rafaela is the heir to an iconic restaurant. Together, they face personal and professional challenges while redefining traditional Lima cuisine.
“My main interest is to create an entertaining and internationally appealing story that also positions Peru as a competitive, attractive, and successful audiovisual destination,” said Valenzuela, also known as “Chascas.”
Leche de Tigre will be produced and directed by Michelle Alexander. In 18 years, Del Barrio Productions has created over 50 telenovelas, series, and documentaries, leading in viewership in Peru and exported to Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Alexander is a pioneering figure in the Peruvian audiovisual industry, being the first woman to direct telenovelas and series in the country, and has received significant awards for her outstanding productions.
The partnership between Valenzuela’s Malule and Del Barrio Productions promises to revolutionize the audiovisual market, combining Valenzuela’s experience with Alexander’s innovative vision. With a captivating story and a renowned production team, the series is set to make a significant mark on international television.
