The actor and recently producer Diego Boneta expressed they are seeking to partner with a creative team that can give a different shift to traditional superhero stories, to work jointly with the series Gato Negro: Nocturnal Warrior, an adaptation for television of the comic strip by Richard Domínguez created in 1993. “We want to tell it in a disruptive way, completely different from the Marvel proposals, for example,” he pointed out.
The series Gato Negro will be made by the production company Three Amigos and MGM Television, where Boneta will perform as executive producer, as well as the star of the series. “It is the first project that talks about a Latino superhero after the world saw what happened with Black Panther and the impact it had, it is time for people to see this type of topic for the Latino market,” assured Boneta, after commenting that the project is still in development.
“We are partnering with several Latino filmmakers who understand the importance of this project, not only for Latinos but at an international level.”
“Something I am very excited about and I have to thank the series on Luis Miguel for is that it launched my career as a producer. It is amazing because I have been wanting to produce for many years and there is one thing you can’t control and that is timing. Now, there is an incredible moment because Hollywood is realizing the importance of the Latino market and there are few people in this. They want to generate content based on Latino stories at an international level,” said Boneta, after mentioning a possible project with Yalitza Aparicio, which he cannot disclose more information about yet.
