Jaime Camil, starring in El Rey, Vicente Fernández, spoke with PRODU about the launch on August 14 at 7:30 p.m.of this authorized bioseries on the open TV channel Azteca Uno (TV Azteca México). He explained it has a new narrative adapted to this screen and highlighted the importance of creating quality content suitable for anywhere in the world.
“Azteca Uno took on the new edition of the series, with a slightly more linear narrative of this great Caracol Televisión production. People are going to like it a lot,” Camil commented.
The singer detailed the acting process to be able to embody the character. “We wanted to create a Vicente with a creative license or portray what the stage directors, the acting coaches, and producers wanted, which meant a human Vicente, not an imitation or parody. The series is a drama, and it was necessary to show a real character emerging from its essence.”
He highlighted the importance of the internationalization of this type of production thanks to the combination of linear signals (Azteca Uno) and streaming platforms (Netflix). “The cost per episode is very high; I think this series could be the most expensive series per episode in Latin America; I think we have to make content with international appeal, and we feel proud. And now, by being on Azteca, El Rey, Vicente Fernández contributes to the artistic media.”
The series arrives on TV Azteca primetime after being a global trend on Netflix, reaching #1 for non-English content globally for +5 consecutive weeks, totaling more than 100 million hours of playback. On Caracol Televisión in Colombia, it reached an audience of around 9 million people, registering 11 rating points and a share of 46.8.
