Netflix continues its bet on Latino talent for its productions and this time it´s the Mexican actress Martha Higareda´s turn to star in this OTT platform´s first science fiction series, Altered Carbon (10×60’), said the actress. She is also part of the cast of the film No Manches Frida, distributed by Videocine, that was released on September 16 in Mexican movie theaters.
“I will start shooting the series Altered Carbon for Netflix US, directed by Miguel Sapochnik, in which I have the main role, playing a Latina character. It is a very important step in my career. I will travel to Canada to shoot, I will be there six months and the film will be entirely in English,” explained the actress.
Martha Higareda, who has taken part in American series like Hawaii Five-0, CSI Miami and El Mariachi, highlighted that this new production is written by Laeta Kalogridis, David H. Goodman and Richard Morgan, based on the eponymous book, in which there is a Latina character she will play. There still isn’t a debut date for the story in the US.
Altered Carbon is set 500 years in the future and Higareda plays a detective, whose family comes from Noth LatAm Zone, that used to be territory that belonged to Mexico, Belice, Guatemala and El Salvador, and is now dominated by technology, and in which human being have digitalized minds.
