To tell stories that highlight women since their childhood thinking about them as women of the future and a multicultural vision are some of the contributions of Ailing Zubizarreta, VP Content & Creative Services, Cisneros Media| Mobius LabKids | Mobius Lab, to the Hispanic content industry.
“My greatest contribution is the multicultural vision that I have embedded in my creations. I am also proud of the spaces that I have opened for other women in the industry. I always seek to tell stories that highlight women since their childhood because they are the women of the future. I really hope that they don’t have to run into the famous glass ceiling, and if they do, they must be prepared,” she emphasized.
Zubizarreta keeps reminding that there is a lot to be done. She said that still there are only 25% of women in the world of content production and the only area that has seen growth is executive production. “What has improved is that the debate is on the table. There is awareness. The next generations of women in this industry will have more opportunities. In fact, we only have to read the news of the US Hispanic and Latin American industries and, for the most part, the leaders and decision-makers are men. Regardless of mergers and the assembly of new teams, the opportunity to include women in leadership is lost. More than the few female executives in the Latinx industry, it’s about lack of opportunities. I want to contribute to a paradigm shift.”
She advises the new generations of women who want to have a career in production, “to be strong without losing joy; to train and not be intimidated; to open their own spaces, speak with confidence and that whenever you are at the point of giving up, look back, and you’ll see those of us who pave the way encouraging you.”
She added that there is a lot of talk about inclusion. “It’s almost a buzzword, but unfortunately we don’t have enough representation yet. There is noise, but the data shows the opposite.”
