Ailing Zubizarreta, an award-winning multidisciplinary creative executive with over 20 years of experience building global brands and kid’s content, told PRODU that the major milestone of her career “was building a successful kid’s division.”
“Zubi,” as she is known, has been key in building and guiding global creative teams for advertising agencies, production companies, and broadcasters. She has produced award-winning campaigns and created kid’s series, such as DinoPops, Zoofari, and Zumbar, among others.
Asked about the evolution of women in animation, she expressed: “Unlike other areas in the industry, the current kid’s field has many women at the helm; it is quite equitable. Every day, there are more opportunities. Although there is always room for more evolution.”
She noted that her journey within the industry has been fun and happened quickly. “It has exceeded my expectations. It is an almost vocational profession.”
She highlighted that the animation industry is constantly changing as technology plays an important role. “I think that being a woman and, in some cases, a mother makes you see through your children’s eyes; they are with you in everything you do. There is an innate love when you create for kids. You even invoke your inner child. I think female leadership tends to focus on details, the long term and collaborative processes.”
