Gary Alazraki, CEO of Alazraki Entertainment and producer of Club de Cuervos, was on the last #VisitaPRODU program of the year, where he commented that with his company they are “trying to make Hollywood in Spanish”.
Although he has been in the industry for 15 years, the executive said that when he was ten years old, his mother had told him he could be a filmmaker. After spending eight years in the advertising world in his father´s agency, he studied Communications in the Universidad Iberoamericana and took a cinema course at the New York Film Academy.
After that, he spent four years dedicated to making infomercials while developing the script of the film Nosotros Los Nobles, launched in 2013. “It exceeded all expectations of what we thought the film would be and opened the doors to Netflix”. That is where Club de Cuervos was born, which was the platform´s first international production that he sees “as the most ambitious and exciting company that is happening in the entertainment business”. In his opinion, Amazon and Netflix are becoming homes for independent.
He explained that there are three very important parameters to measure a series´ success on Netflix, “the first is of the entire catalog they have, what percentage is watching your series, and out of that group, what percentage is finishing and the last, in how much time.”
