Amazon Prime looks for stories that are relevant to their clients, which can come from any place. “That is why we work with creators from around the world, trying to identify that special story that unites audiences. We are looking for stories that offer something unique and different, that attract local regions,” explains Pablo Iacoviello, Head of Content Acquisitions for Latin America at Amazon Prime Video.
He said that the original local Prime series Diablo Guardián, launched last May 4, and the upcoming Un Extraño Enemigo that is coming at the end of this year were made in Mexico with local talent and production. They also announced the biographical series on Diego Armando Maradona, that will be produced by BTF Media, Dhana Media, and Raze.
“Additionally, we are introducing content from other regions, such as the series Six Dreams, an original soccer documentary on La Liga from Spain, which we believe will be a hit in Latin America,” he said.
Iacoviello commented they have had great accomplishments with the expansion of the catalog in Latin America with popular films through exclusive agreements with Lionsgate and Telefilms, as well as becoming the exclusive streaming service of series like This Is Us, Mr. Robot and Fear the Walking Dead, and of relevant local titles such as El César.
“We continue adding successful series like The Good Doctor, that will come exclusively to Amazon Prime Video in Latin America this year, and expanding our selection of Spanish TV series such as Estoy Vivo, Aquí Abajo, Matadero and Presunto Culpable, which are already available,” mentioned Iacoviello.
