Atresmedia Internacional’s ATRESPlayer platform aims to expand the service in 2022 within the region’s operators, which are increasingly becoming SVOD aggregators.
“What we are trying to do is that the ATRESPlayer platform reaches both directly to consumers and through cable operators that have become aggregators. It has been a year since the agreement with Claro video, and in 2022 new agreements with different operators both in the US and in Latin America are coming. For ATRESPlayer, 2022 will be the year of expanding its operators,” said Mar Martínez, general director of Atresmedia Internacional. The role of big operators is to offer channels or SVOD options so that their clients use the same payment services and even recommendations about content and on which platforms they can find it.
Martínez said that they are already negotiating several distribution agreements for the group’s channels, these will be announced in a few weeks. “In the end, everything comes down to having better exposure to the channels and ATRESPlayer, and taking advantage of all the content that the Atresmedia group offers us every year. Prospects look good both for the US Hispanic and in Latin America,” she said.
She also pointed out that this will be a year of moves, which include the cancellation of some linear channels by large groups. “We will have to see how the operators are going to replace them. But in the end, what matters is the content, and that it is available on linear, VOD, SVOD because the demand for content remains.”
