Azteca America through its non-profit arm Fundación Azteca America announced its partnership with Voto Latino for the People Powered Politics conference that will be held on Tuesday, September 4 in Charlotte. The conference will be hosted by Voto Latino Chairwoman Rosario Dawson and will include the participation of María Teresa Kumar, president and CEO of Voto Latino; Lawrence O’Donnell, host of MSNBC’s The Last Word; Javier Palomarez, president and CEO of the USHCC; Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund; Lily Eskelsen, VP, NEA; and José Antonio Vargas, author & founder, Define American. “The Latino agenda goes well beyond immigration, and part of the mandate that we have from our Grupo Salinas Chairman Ricardo Salinas is to encourage thoughtful discussion on issues such as education, health and the economy, in addition to the omnipresent topic of immigration,” said Luis J. Echarte, chairman of Azteca America. “We’re proud to be partnering with the leading Latino organizations to discuss important issues that affect the Latino community and we look forward to continued involvement to ensure that the voices of our community are heard,” said Martín Breidsprecher, CEO of Azteca America. “The impact of these issues facing many Americans is of particular importance to the Latino community and we consider this a critical conversation in bringing attention to how diverse communities will make a difference in this election,” says Voto Latino President and CEO Maria Teresa Kumar.
