Venezuelan writer Alberto Gómez, whose story Siempre Tuya Acapulco currently airs on Azteca Trece, told PRODU that Mexico is a pioneer in television content. He believes the proliferation of series will not reduce the telenovelas dominance of TV.Mexico is always at the forefront. It offers a great diversity of novelas, from romance to more risqué themes, such as the ones produced by Azteca. This is a market with lots of opportunities because there are audiences for every genre and the country is a pioneer in the development of these stories, said Gómez.In regards to other TV content and the growing popularity of series, Gómez said these would never have the penetration telenovelas have around the world, arguing that series tackle darker aspects that are not appropriate for the entire family. Telenovelas are here to stay, with more or less risqué stories, but will always be there.Siempre Tuya Acapulco marks Gómezs return to Mexico and his first story with Azteca, where he signed a two-novela deal. He worked for Televisa for seven years (Marisol, El Alma No Tiene Color, and Preciosa). He also worked in Miami (Gata Salvaje, Acorralada, Marina and Ángel Rebelde), and in his native Venezuela.Siempre Tuya Acapulco airs Monday through Friday at 8:30pm on Azteca Trece.
