Azteca celebrated in Mexico the 17th anniversary of the show La Entrevista Con Sarmiento. The program hosted by journalist Sergio Sarmiento, airs on Azteca 13 Monday through Friday at midnight and on Proyecto 40 Wednesdays at 9:45pm.“For me it’s several dates: 17 years of the show, 21 years at Azteca and 43 years as a journalist. I started my career on June of 1971. The philosophy of this show is one of tolerance and openness. Firstly, I ask the questions and do not accept censorship, and secondly, the interviewees can answer what they want and there is no editing or censorship for them either. This has been the formula I’ve used to interview political figures, both domestic and international and from both sides of the political spectrum,” said Sarmiento during the event. The journalist thanked the people who have supported him these 17 years at the station, starting with Ricardo Salinas Pliego, president of Grupo Salinas: “The fact that all of you are present here fills me with hope; there are many voices that can be heard and act with tolerance.”Sarmiento currently has three shows: La Entrevista Con Sarmiento -where he has conducted over 2,589 interviews-, Quinto Poder and 13 En Libertad.Sarmiento has interviewed politicians, philosophers, TV hosts, musicians, artists, and Nobel laureates, among others.
