The Austrian Football Association, Hogmore Media, and beIN MEDIA GROUP have announced an international media rights agreement that will see beIN SPORTS exclusively broadcast Austria’s UNIQA ÖFB Cup Final – the first domestic cup final played behind closed doors after the global lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis – in multiple territories across the world. The final takes place on Friday, 29 May at 18.45 GMT.
Under the deal, beIN SPORTS will broadcast the final between Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg (who competed in this season’s UEFA Champions League) and challengers Austria Lustenau across USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Asia, and the 24 countries of the Middle East & North Africa (“MENA).
With limited professional sport being played anywhere in the world since the start of March due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Red Bull Salzburg versus Austria Lustenau is the first domestic cup final being played since the safe resumption of live sport, and is likely to attract a large audience on beIN’s global network with fans hungry to watch competitive action once again.
Richard Verow, beIN MEDIA GROUP’s Chief Sports Officer, said: “After an incredibly challenging few months for everyone, we’re absolutely delighted that live sport is returning safely to our screens, which will bring much needed joy and excitement to households all across the world. After seeing historic-high viewing figures when the Bundesliga returned a few weeks ago on beIN SPORTS, we can’t wait to broadcast the UNIQA ÖFB Cup Final across our global network so that sports fans can once again join in with the action and watch a trophy be lifted.”
The deal was brokered by Hogmore Media.
