Prior to the return of Banijay’s reality show Survivor to TV Globo in Brazil, which was announced last week, the format had four seasons that were broadcast in different periods of time. The last one was in 2009.
For Laurens Drillich, president of Endemol Shine Latino, Survivor is one of the real classic reality shows and now that Banijay and Endemol are one, “we can also coordinate it too. Additionally, Brazil has a huge appetite for reality TV. We believe that it will be as successful – or more – than the other versions around the world. But most of all: this is a great show and it will be fun to produce and watch!”
He added that his Endemol Shine Brazil team is already in full production of the show with Globo. “We have a great relationship with the Globo team and this is an extension of it. Survivor is part of a long list of successful Endemol Shine and Banijay titles that have run through Globo and Globosat screens. Series like Big brother, Your Face Sounds Familiar, Strictly Dancing, Supermarket Ding Dong, The Wall – from NBC-, and Extreme Makeover Home Edition.”
The show takes place in a “beautiful location of Brazil in the northeast of the country. The production team is working within a very tight and secure ‘bubble’ due to covid and following safety protocols. Globo and our team at Endemol Shine Brazil are making a great effort to make this a safe environment for everyone involved,” he concluded.
