BTF Media created a new concept for its bet on the genre of fictional formats of more than 26 chapters: megaseries. These are fiction formats of up to 60 local hours with global reach, a strategy proposed by its founders, Ricardo Coeto and Francisco Cordero.
“At BTF Media we firmly believe that the world of content is cyclical. That is why we have decided to assemble production units dedicated to the creation of fiction formats of between 26 and 60 hours. In addition, we have been very careful to update the offer, enriching and modernizing the stories to connect with all audiences. That is why we are sure that these long-length products today cover a much broader and more diverse audience,” said Coeto.
Both are sure that these formats are beginning to be relevant among the platforms, becoming an incipient trend. “We want to maintain the essence of our mega-series regarding its structures and melodramatic function, but taking advantage of and enhancing the universe of the characters and the action, to create irreverent products that better connect with the audience,” said Cordero.
For Coeto, the megaseries have a promising comeback in the industry and that is why he assures that: “Our creators, writers, and filmmakers are working on this new dedicated production unit, which seeks to generate culturally relevant projects for the region, strengthened with modern plots and that include all genres, but always respecting the local values and promoting the involvement of top-of-the-line talent.”
BTF MEGASERIES is the name of this unit, which is pre-producing its first formats for 2022.
