Among the new original IPs that Canela is developing are several non-scripted shows such as a late-night show with a major Latina female celebrity; a hairstylist game show and a program with the history of several Latino family businesses where the winner will receive a significant investment to continue growing.
“All the IPs that we are offering come with celebrities and big names in the industry,” said Isabel Rafferty, CEO and founder of Canela Media.
“I am excited to see the growth of Canela and the ways in which we can keep on growing. I see great potential for Canela Kids because there is a great demand in the market. We did the first season of Súperellas, which has been a success, and now we are going to do season two,” she said.
She highlighted that they are focusing a lot on non-scripted and they are coming very strong with the Secretos franchise. “I am very excited about original series franchises like Secretos de Villanas and now seeing its second season. Secretos de las Indomables will be a success. We have brought in Christian Barcellos as showrunner, who was behind hits like Real Housewives.”
Finally, she referred to Canela Connect: “It is a game changer because it places us as the most important platform in the OTT space due to our agreement with Roku. Roku has only made an agreement with four platforms in the US and Canela is one of them. When clients want to achieve a very large reach in the Latino market, Canela has a very important scale. It is going to be a very interesting and exciting year for the company.”
