The reality show La Isla: Desafío Extremo, an adaptation of Caracol Televisión’s original format El Desafío, will air on Telemundo starting July 30 at 7pm. This U.S. version is launched right as the program celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Lisette Osorio, VP of International Business at Caracol, highlighted: “In its 20 years, El Desafío has had a remarkable journey around the world, captivating followers in territories such as Mexico, Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania. We are motivated and proud to share the audience records we are achieving during this historic celebration. La Isla: Desafío Extremo arrives on Telemundo on July 30
This Caracol Televisión format in its U.S. version will be hosted by Javier Poza, featuring 24 contestants who will form three teams: The Eagles, The Sharks, and The Panthers, competing in the most extreme physical and mental survival challenges in wild and remote locations across the beaches, mountains, and forests of Turkey, in pursuit of the coveted US$200,000 prize.
Each week, the teams will start by competing in the territory game, which will determine the conditions they will live in for the week: High Beach with all amenities, Medium Beach with few amenities, or Low Beach with no amenities. Throughout the week, they will compete in numerous games for salvation, captaincy, advantages, punishments, adventures, and nominations, among others. The non-nominated participants will vote to choose who will be eliminated from the competition each week.
They will have to share daily life, isolated from their outside world, in a competition where losing everything is just the beginning, and where drama, alliances, and betrayals will be the order of the day.
