La Reina de Indias y el Conquistador, the ambitious superseries that reconstructs the Spanish conquest to tell a powerful love story, arrives at Netflix worldwide on May 20. It was written by Johhny Ortiz and directed by Camilo Villamizar and Juan Carlos Vásquez.
In this production, we will be able to travel to the time when a magical universe—whose existence was unknown in other continents—is unveiled to the world. There, the torrid romance of the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Heredia (Emmanuel Esparza) and the Indian Catalina (Essined Aponte), the woman who became an icon of the blend of those two cultures during those years.
Lisette Osorio, VP, International Business at Caracol Televisión, stated: “Once again, we are risking to travel in time to bring to our markets a passional legend that conveys all the ardor of the time of the conquest. A risky story that will speak a universal language: love for disputes, and the exquisite mixture of cultures that gave place to the world as we know it today”.
La Reina de Indias y el Conquistador was shot 100% in exteriors, in 4K quality with cinema optics, with locations in the Caribbean, such as the mythical Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the banks of the Magdalena and Palomino rivers, and other populations with great cultural tradition for the American continent, such as Villa de Leyva and Santa Fe de Antioquia.
Caracol Televisión has summoned a luxury cast for this production: Manuel Navarro, Ilenia Antonini, Aroha Hafez, Alejandro Rodríguez, Cristina Warner, Juliette Arrieta, Fernando Campo, Camilo Jimenez, Jairo Camargo and Adelaida Buscato.
