Luis Torres-Bohl, president of Castalia, said to PRODU that the platform europa+ continues to grow in distribution, both in Direct to Consumer and B2B. They launched on Claro Brazil, Telecentro de Argentina, and among other smaller distributors. They also are releasing series constantly. Approximately 300,000 subscribers are on board and is directed by Rubén Mendiola, “who is doing his job very well and we are very good partners,” he said.
He explained that they have two FAST Channel projects: one called La Casa del Jaripeo Network about horsemen and Tu Corazón de México, which will be launched soon and will include the best Mexicanal programming, both new and from its library, on various topics such as cooking, tourism, customs, and funny things, among other.
Regarding the Hispanic TV Summit, which he has been attending since its launch, he said that these types of meetings are necessary because they show how far Hispanics have come and that this year there are fewer people due to inflation and the recession.
He believes that the Hispanic market will continue to grow. Today Hispanics represent 20% of the US population but in 20 years this figure will increase to 40 or 45% since there are states like California where they already reached 50% and that is why he believes it is unfair that the Hispanic market is left with only 7% of total advertising and even that non-Hispanic actors still are playing Hispanic characters.
“Things like this have to change,” he emphasized.
