Castalia Communications President Luis Torres-Bohl recently joined EN VIVO with Ríchard Izarra at Mipcom 2024 to discuss several key announcements. These include the restructuring of La Casa del Jaripeo, their first FAST channel, and the development of a new crime-focused FAST channel in partnership with Germany’s ZDF. Torres also mentioned that experienced pay TV executive Pablo Corona is advising the company on its FAST channel strategy.
Regarding pay TV, Torres commented, “It’s like life itself—constantly evolving. While cable TV is undergoing significant changes, I believe these changes are additive rather than subtractive. As a result, FAST channels and other emerging platforms will continue to expand the range of content available to viewers.”
Torres also noted that Mexicanal, their San Luis Potosí-based signal, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. Additionally, Castalia Communications has been operating for 25 years. He mentioned that his son, Demian Torres-Bohl, a successful producer known for the Netflix hit reality show Fuerza Necaxa is now leading the channel.
“For 20 years, we’ve been fulfilling a vital social role through Mexicanal. We’ve provided supplementary content to what Telemundo, Televisa, and other networks offer to the US Hispanic market. Our goal is to promote Mexican culture, connect Mexicans to their roots, and highlight the positive aspects of Mexico, especially for those who emigrated for economic reasons,” he explained.
