Mediapro Studio appointed Catalina Porto (ex Caracol TV) as the new director of Content in Colombia and Mexico. Porto, who has more than 20 years of experience in different areas of the industry, will be responsible for productions in these two markets in order to develop the studio in the region.
She has been linked to Caracol Television for more than a decade, where she has been the executive producer of series such as Siempre Bruja, Chichipatos, La Reina de Indias and El Conquistador, Ritmo Salvaje and A Grito Herido. In addition, during her time as executive manager of the Colombian network, she led the company’s most recent expansion in Mexico as president of Caracol Estudios México and has been the producer of the series El Rey, a biopic of Vicente Fernández.
“The extensive experience of Catalina Porto in production, her great training and her deep knowledge of the sector, both in Colombia and in Mexico, will be a very positive influence on our non-stop growth in these two markets where the studio already has an outstanding infrastructure, numerous clients and multiple productions underway. We continue to invest heavily in developing and attracting the best local and international talent. Catalina’s arrival at the studio is great news,” said Laura Fernández Espeso, general director of The Mediapro Studio.
“I am thrilled to join a company with excellent creative teams and executives, a strategic vision to expand its leadership in a market as large and important as Latin America, and at a moment when we have an exceptional opportunity to enrich the offer of the best content in Spanish,” Porto commented.
Previously, Catalina was Legal Manager of Caracol Televisión and, before that, of RTI Producciones. She also worked as a senior associate at the firm Norton Rose Fullbright Colombia, specializing in telecommunications, entertainment, media, and technology, and as legal manager at the newspaper El Tiempo, TigoUNE (Millicom International), and Claro Colombia.
