Chilean José Ignacio “Chascas” Valenzuela, writer, creator, showrunner and executive producer of Who Killed Sara? (Netflix) and Argentine producer Lucas Akoskin (Aliwen Entertainment) created Malule Entertainment, a production company based in Los Angeles and Miami.
One of Malule’s missions will be to adapt some of Valenzuela’s 25 books, which include stories for adults, children, and adolescents. Also, collaborate with renowned scriptwriters and provide a space for emerging Latin American writers. The focus is on hybrid stories (such as melodramas or suspenseful comedies) hatched in the Latin world but with global appeal, according to an article published in Variety.
Valenzuela signed in October a three-year exclusivity agreement with Netflix to write series and film proposals.
Akoskin has to his credit remarkable films such as On the Milky Road (directed by Emir Kusturica) or Nightingale (HBO). His upcoming projects include the feature film Cuéntalo Como Una Mujer, which features directors such as Catherine Hardwicke, Taraji Henson, and Lucía Puenzo. He also stars in and produces Sebastian Schindel’s Argentine romantic comedy Miénteme, which begins production in December.
