Univision Communications named Christina Schwarz new VP of Programming and Productions for Univision Cable Networks.Schwarz, who will dual- report to Univision Cable Networks senior VP Jessica Rodriguez and Sebastian Trujillo, senior VP and Operating Manager for Galavisión, has more than 25 years experience in television and broadcasting, including nearly two decades working with Hispanic media.“For 17 years, Cristina worked for Univision in the New York market in many capacities, including production and sales. Her depth of experience, combined with her personal knowledge about the Univision audience, makes her the perfect choice to help us build on our success at Univision Cable Networks”, commented Rodríguez.Since leaving Univision in 2005, Schwarz has operated her own company, CSLR, Ltd., a consultancy for international media companies.Schwarz also previously served as VP and general manager for three New York television stations within the Univision Television Group; led sales teams for Univision and Telemundo networks; and worked in advertising for the Bravo Group and Caballero Spanish Radio Network. “I am thrilled to return to Univision. My passion for and knowledge of our Hispanic audiences will enable me to bring relevant, informative, quality program to Univision’s viewing community” said Schwarz.During her time as GM of Univision WXTV 41 in New York, the station received numerous awards, including several regional Emmy’s, an Edward R. Murrow award among others.
